COVID Forced Kaer Morhen To Move To London
Season one traveled across Hungary, Poland, and Spain, but the pandemic made that kind of globe-trotting impossible for season two. So the entire season, including the witchers' stronghold Kaer Morhen, ended up being built and filmed at Arborfield Film Studios, a converted former army barracks outside London.
Atreus Is Wearing Kratos's Old Loincloth
Look closely at the red-and-gold sash tied around Atreus's waist right at the start of the game. It's got the same geometric pattern as the loincloth Kratos wore back in Greece, so it seems Faye repurposed a piece of his past into something for their son to wear.
Cassie Was Nearly the Star
There was genuine internal discussion about making Cassie Drake the lead instead of Chloe. The idea got dropped for a few reasons: the team worried she'd feel too much like a Lara Croft clone, an adult Cassie suddenly gunning down mercenaries felt tonally wrong, and honestly, Nate and Elena would never sign off on their daughter living that life.
Osgiliath Was Invented for the Film
The whole battle-at-Osgiliath detour for Frodo, Sam and Gollum doesn't exist in the book at all. It was written purely to give Faramir a redemption arc on screen, and there's even a knowing line where Sam mutters they shouldn't even be there.

During the chaotic backstage scramble as Tony pushes his way to his car after the Expo, keep an eye out for Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, who gets a quick cameo as himself.
There's a Whole Alternate Ending
A different ending was actually filmed as a bonus feature for the final season's DVD release, framing the entire series as a dream had by Hal — Bryan Cranston's character from Malcolm in the Middle. It never made it to air, obviously.
Shigaraki's Name Is Basically a Funeral
Tomura Shigaraki's real name is built out of some pretty grim kanji, 'shi' for death, 'tomura' for mourning, and even the character for tree echoes the wooden grave markers used in Japanese cemeteries. His whole identity is basically spelled out before you even meet him.
Nine Toes Becomes Nine Toads
There's a rare spawn called Nine Toads, which is a pretty obvious wink at Borderlands' Nine Toes. It doesn't stop at the name either, since killing it can drop a weapon called The Clipper, the exact same name as the gun Nine Toes drops in Borderlands.
World 1-1 Comes To Brooklyn
Before the brothers get sucked into the warp pipe, they sprint across a Brooklyn construction site to make it to a job on time. Look at the layout closely and it's basically a live-action recreation of World 1-1 from the original Super Mario Bros, right down to Mario sliding down a sign post like it's the end-of-level flagpole.
