Mob Mentality Speeds Up Pyramid Plunder

Every time someone starts a round of Pyramid Plunder, the game randomly assigns which tomb door is 'correct' for everyone on that world. Players eventually figured out that if you cram a huge crowd onto one world and get everyone spam-clicking a single door, you basically guarantee someone gets the right one almost instantly.

The Satchels That Were Almost Lunchboxes

The colourful satchels used in Creature Creation weren't the original plan at all — early versions of the update had them as actual lunchboxes decorated with little animal stickers. For whatever reason, that idea got swapped out for satchels at the very last minute.

One Flag Survived a Whole City Rework

When Varrock got its 2007 graphical overhaul, every green-and-yellow flag in the city was meant to be swapped for the new colour scheme. They missed exactly one, tucked away in a far corner, and eighteen years later it's still sitting there completely unchanged.

Every Monster Was Almost a Wall

Those gorilla guards on Ape Atoll that physically block your path aren't a one-off quirk — Jagex originally wanted every single monster in the game to block movement like that, and had to be talked out of it by people pointing out how miserable it would be.

A Barrel That Unlocks a Door Miles Away

For no clear reason, there's a barrel hidden in the Varrock Sewers that you can search to find a key — and that key opens a completely unrelated door all the way over in West Ardougne.

Goblins Who'd Pay Billions for a Potato

There's a minigame in Dorgesh-Kaan where you sell exotic food to hungry goblins, and for a while after it launched in 2007 you could offer them something dirt cheap, like a single potato, for a price in the billions. An integer overflow bug meant they'd often just accept it.

Coconut Math Checks Out, At Least

It's a tiny thing, but a Half Coconut is always priced at exactly half the value of a whole one. In a game full of pricing weirdness and broken drop tables, it's oddly satisfying that this one thing actually does what it says on the tin.

Even Your Cat Judges Your Gear Choices

Your pet cat isn't just for show — if you wear a dragon chainbody around it, it'll actually talk back with some cheeky dialogue giving you grief about it.

The Cheese Glitch Every Ironman Knows About

Rat traps scattered around rat-infested areas can be baited with cheese, and other players (or rats) can come along and try to grab that cheese off the trap. Because of how the mechanic works, it's been used as a sneaky way to transfer effectively infinite cheese to an ironman account, which definitely wasn't the intended use.

A Wiki Typo That Cost Players a Fortune

Thanks to an error on a wiki page, the black shield (h2) ended up trading on the Grand Exchange for roughly ten times its actual worth, and that mistaken price stuck around influencing trades for about three years before anyone properly corrected it.
