Arm Wrestling Comes With a Pulp Fiction Threat

Challenge Francis to an arm wrestling match in Broken Hills and he'll warn you that if you lose, you'll be his gimp for the night, a line pulled almost verbatim from Pulp Fiction's infamous pawn shop scene. It's played for a laugh rather than actually going anywhere, thankfully.

Nirnroot's Fallout Cousin

Up in Senior Scribe Neriah's lab on the Prydwen, there's a tray of experimental plants described as growing near rivers. Sound familiar? It's basically Fallout's version of Skyrim's nirnroot, minus the annoying chime. Thankfully you can harvest it without hunting down that sound for twenty minutes.

Someone Made a Rap Out of Deckard Cain's Catchphrase

Cain's 'Stay awhile and listen' became so iconic that Blizzard actually had his voice actor, Michael Gough, record a full rap song built around the line. Not something you'd expect from a wise old scholar NPC, but Blizzard leaned into it.

Masyaf Castle Is a Real Place

Masyaf isn't a made-up stronghold, the castle genuinely exists in northwest Syria and was once held by the real Nizari Ismaili sect. A restoration project between 2000 and 2006 even turned up a hidden underground tunnel and an old bathhouse on site.

The Staircase Stunt at Khazad-dûm

That moment where the Fellowship leaps a gap in the collapsing stairs while orcs fire arrows at them, with Aragorn and Frodo riding a broken chunk of stone across the gap, was built as a real physical set piece rather than a digital effect.

A Year-Long Chase for Quicksilver

Getting Aaron Taylor-Johnson to sign on as Pietro Maximoff wasn't quick at all, ironically. Whedon reportedly spent close to a year courting him for the part. Taylor-Johnson eventually said yes partly because his Godzilla co-star Elizabeth Olsen had already been cast as his on-screen twin, Wanda.

Claude's Old Jacket

Want to run around Liberty City dressed as GTA III's silent protagonist? It's possible, but you have to make a specific, fairly cold-blooded choice first. During the mission where you decide whether to kill Playboy X or Dwayne, choosing to let Dwayne do the deed opens up Playboy's now-empty apartment, and tucked away inside is Claude's classic outfit from GTA III, ready for Niko to put on.

Arcane's First Season Beat Out Stranger Things in the US

By its second week, Arcane was outpacing both Stranger Things and The Mandalorian as the most in-demand digital streaming series in America, according to audience analytics firm Parrot Analytics, with total demand for the show growing well over 600% in just a couple of weeks.

Dacre Montgomery Deliberately Slimmed Down to Play Billy

Dacre Montgomery had built a noticeably muscular physique for Power Rangers, but when he landed the role of Billy Hargrove he made a point of shedding that gym-honed look. He wanted Billy to feel like a real teenager from the mid-80s rather than a superhero, and leaned into that more ordinary build to make the character's swagger and menace feel grounded.

Radiant AI Promised a Lot More Chaos

Before launch, Bethesda talked up Radiant AI as a system where hungry guards could wander off duty, letting opportunistic NPCs steal from unguarded shops and spark full-blown street fights the player might stumble across later. In testing it caused way too much unpredictable carnage, so a lot of that ambition got quietly dialled back before the game ever shipped.
