What Altaïr's Name Actually Means

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad translates roughly to 'the eagle, son of none'. It's not just a cool-sounding name, birds run through the whole series as an Assassin symbol, and 'son of none' nods to Altaïr growing up an orphan, raised entirely by the Brotherhood.

Walt and Heisenberg's Namesakes

Walter White isn't a random name — he's named after the poet Walt Whitman. His alter ego Heisenberg is a nod to real physicist Werner Heisenberg, the guy behind the Uncertainty Principle in quantum mechanics. Chemistry teacher turned criminal, named after a scientist known for unpredictability. Makes sense once you think about it.

Bigger Than Earth Itself

A default Minecraft world stretches out to a 60,000km wide square, which sounds abstract until you realise that's several times larger than the entire surface area of Earth. Nobody is ever walking the whole thing, but it's a wild bit of trivia to drop on someone who thinks they've 'explored everything' in their save file.

The Candy Kingdom's Guards Look Familiar

The Banana Guards protecting the Candy Kingdom share a suspicious amount of DNA with the Minions from Despicable Me, both in their yellow, rounded shape and their goofy group energy. It's never called out directly in the show, but the resemblance is hard to miss once you're looking for it.

Why Xur Stands Hunched

In later lore, the Guardian Orin confronts Xur while investigating the Nine, crushing his throat and striking him with a war hammer hard enough to warp his spine permanently. It's why Xur has always stood in that distinctive hunched posture and spoken in his strained voice.

The Concept Existed Years Before Production Started

Christian Linke and Alex Yee first pitched the idea for a League of Legends show back in the mid-2010s, and Riot's own founders were reportedly hesitant at first since it was a big risk for a game studio. Riot ended up quietly funding concept art and even a test pilot episode in 2016 before the project got the proper greenlight.

Joel and Ellie Didn't Always Have Last Names

Early on, the working names for the leads were Joel 'Miller' and Ellie 'Williams,' but Naughty Dog dropped surnames entirely for the finished 2013 game. Fans kept using the old names anyway, and eventually the studio made it official - 'Miller' was confirmed as canon in Part II, and Neil Druckmann later confirmed 'Williams' for Ellie himself.

Every Rockstar Studio Worked on This One Game

Rather than splitting work across separate teams, Rockstar pulled all of its studios worldwide together into one combined production for RDR2. That's over 2,000 people, from the motion capture performers right through to the environment artists, all pointed at the same game for years.

85 References In One Movie

One outlet actually sat down and counted every single Nintendo reference they could find in the film, landing on a huge 85 separate Easter eggs, which works out to roughly one for every minute of runtime. Safe to say this is a movie built for repeat viewings.

The Meteorite Outside the Map

Walk past the little shed in the Storage area of Nacht der Untoten and look out past the barriers - there's a big red meteorite just sitting out there beyond the playable space. It ties back to the whole 115/meteor lore thread that runs through Zombies.
