Set within a year after the events of Batman Begins (2005), Batman, Lieutenant James Gordon, and new District Attorney Harvey Dent successfully begin to round up the criminals that plague Gotham City, until a mysterious and sadistic criminal mastermind known only as 'The Joker' appears in Gotham, creating a new wave of chaos. Batman's struggle against The Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to 'confront everything he believes' and improve his technology to stop him. A love triangle develops between Bruce Wayne, Dent, and Rachel Dawes.

The Neck That Finally Turns

Christian Bale spent two movies complaining that the Batsuit's neck piece didn't let him turn his head, so for this one the costume team finally built in an articulated neck. There's even a little in-joke moment where Lucius Fox tells Bruce the new suit lets him 'turn his head' - a wink at exactly that gripe.

Joker's Bare Fingers

Look closely during the hospital scene with Harvey Dent and you'll notice the Joker isn't wearing his gloves for once, and there's makeup smeared on his fingers. Heath Ledger came up with that detail himself, on the idea that the Joker applies his own face paint and would naturally get some on his hands.
