Deep in the campaign level The Ark, near the seventh data terminal, players can find a floating cardboard cutout of Bungie co-founder Jason Jones, dressed in nothing but a pair of gym shorts. It's one of several in-jokes the studio hid throughout the level for eagle-eyed fans who go looking off the beaten path.
The flying machine and tank Ezio uses in-game were real Leonardo da Vinci designs, but neither was ever constructed in his lifetime, he reportedly worried about his blueprints falling into the wrong hands and included deliberate errors in his notes.
Between 11:00 PM and midnight, a stationary female ghost appears on the eastern peak of Mount Gordo. She won't move or react to being shot at, and simply fades away, one of several ghostly sightings Rockstar seeded into the world.
A hidden 'Golden Peyote' plant lets players transform into Bigfoot, but it only appears at Raton Canyon on Tuesdays between 5:30 and 8:00 AM, and only once every prior peyote plant has already been consumed. It was one of the last major single-player secrets fans uncovered after release.
