Built Across Six Studios at Once

Just how big a production was Revelations? Big enough that Ubisoft had six different studios working on it simultaneously, a scale that dwarfed anything the series had attempted before it.

The $10 Million Gamble

Back in 2004, San Andreas reportedly cost around $10 million to make, and that's before marketing was even factored in. Sounds tiny by today's standards, but for the time it was one of the most ambitious budgets in gaming.

Curie And The Synth Family Tree

Curie starts life as a Mr. Handy-style robot before transferring her mind into a synth body so she can properly research what it means to be human. It's a lovely arc on its own, but there's a weirder wrinkle buried in the game's lore: every generation 3 synth, Curie included, is built from genetic material derived from your character's son, Shaun.

Faster Feet, Courtesy of the Hook

Ubisoft actually put a number on how much the Hookblade sped things up: roughly 30 percent quicker traversal than in the earlier games. Makes sense when you consider Ezio's supposed to be pushing 50 by this point and needs all the help he can get scaling rooftops.

There's a Whole Dungeon Named After the Dev Team

Sometimes the Cemetery of the Forsaken swaps its usual Defiled Crypt for one called Development Hell, and every single monster inside is named after a real Diablo III staff member. You can literally fight lead director Jay Wilson in there.

The Dragonborn Theme Rhymes in Two Languages at Once

Composer Jeremy Soule's choral theme 'Dragonborn' is sung entirely in the fictional Dovahzul language, and its lyrics were crafted so carefully that they rhyme both in the invented Dragon tongue and in their English translation.

A Right-Handed Glove Turns Left

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the Infinity Gauntlet glimpsed in Odin's trophy room back in the first Thor movie fits a right hand, while the one Thanos slips on during the credits here fits his left. It's a tiny detail that ended up fuelling years of fan theories about fake gauntlets and hidden vaults before later films sorted it all out.

Marceline's Dad Is Voiced By Her Real Dad

There's a nice bit of real-life family casting hidden in the show. Olivia Olson's adoptive father, Martin Olson, who was also a writer on Phineas and Ferb, provides the voice of Hunson Abadeer, Marceline's demon dad and Lord of the Nightosphere.

Soap Didn't Actually Speak in His Debut

Sergeant 'Soap' MacTavish is one of the series' most recognisable faces now, but in his very first appearance he was a silent protagonist. He didn't get an actual voice actor until Modern Warfare 2 came along.

Hackdirt Worships the Deep Ones

The Chorrol quest A Shadow Over Hackdirt has the townsfolk secretly worshipping unseen creatures called the Deep Ones through their own twisted little scripture. That's lifted almost wholesale from H.P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth, right down to the isolated town hiding something under the water.
