Baskerville Is a Real Gas Storage Facility
The top-secret military research base in The Hounds of Baskerville is actually the Dynevor Arms Liquefied Natural Gas Storage Facility near Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, and just like the fictional base it's playing, the public still can't get anywhere near it.
Fake Scenes to Fool Leakers
By the time season 7 rolled around, the production was so paranoid about paparazzi and set leaks that Kit Harington ended up shooting entirely fake scenes just to throw people off. He told Jimmy Kimmel he filmed three of these decoy scenes, each one taking around five hours, purely for the moments the crew knew they were being watched from a distance.
Germany Got Extra Songs
Thanks to some licensing headaches in the US, the German release of the game actually shipped with more radio tracks on it than the American version got. It's a strange little quirk of music rights that meant not every player was hearing quite the same soundtrack, depending on where they bought the game.
Lunara and Rhonda's Class Hall Cameos
The Druid Class Hall in Legion is home to a dryad called Lunara, lifted straight from the MOBA Heroes of the Storm. Wander over to the Monk Class Hall and you'll meet Rhonda, who plenty of players assumed was a nod to MMA fighter Ronda Rousey but is actually named for Rhonda Cox, a real Blizzard sound engineer and martial artist.
13 Death Cards Hidden Throughout the Campaign
Scattered across the campaign are 13 collectible Death Cards, usually tucked near fallen soldiers or fixed to makeshift graves. Find one and it unlocks a co-op cheat, like paintball bullets or enemies that never drop weapons - track down all of them and there's an achievement waiting for you too.
Cutter Got Written Out Because of The Hobbit
Charlie Cutter was originally supposed to stick around for the whole story, but his voice actor Graham McTavish landed a role in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy partway through production. Naughty Dog had to rewrite the back half of the game to write him out, which is why he vanishes from the plot the way he does.
A Face That Looks a Lot Like Jesse Pinkman
On the original release of the game, a spray-painted face is tucked into a rock edge on Mount Chiliad's northern slope, and it bears an uncanny resemblance to Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. It has nothing to do with the Chiliad mural conspiracy and serves no purpose whatsoever, and in the enhanced version of the game it was quietly swapped out for a drawing of a rooster instead.
The Anime That Broke the Filler Curse
Long before My Hero Academia, shonen adaptations like Naruto and Bleach just kept airing non-stop, which meant tons of padded-out filler arcs to keep pace with the manga. Studio Bones did things differently and released MHA in yearly seasonal chunks instead, which is a big part of why the pacing, animation and story all feel so much tighter than a lot of its shonen peers.
The Real Sir Francis Drake's Coffin Is Still Missing
The historical Sir Francis Drake really was buried at sea in a lead coffin somewhere near Portobelo, Panama, and to this day nobody has ever found it. It's a nice bit of real-world mystery that lines up neatly with the treasure-hunting premise of the game.
