A Hellraiser Cameo Hiding in Yelesna

The side quest 'Unyielding Flesh' has you helping a woman named Krystyna save her husband Feodor, who you find chained up looking a little too pleased with his situation while a mysterious woman hovers nearby. Follow her and things turn very Hellraiser very fast, right down to some of the dialogue.

A Trophy That Jokes About Its Own Violence

Fans had spent years poking fun at how a lighthearted adventure hero racks up such a huge body count, so Naughty Dog leaned into the joke with a trophy literally called Ludonarrative Dissonance, awarded for killing 1,000 enemies across the game.

Gaz Set a Training Record You're Meant to Chase

During the F.N.G. training level, Gaz holds a squad record of 19 seconds on the obstacle course. Beating it isn't required to progress, but it is tied to an achievement, so plenty of players have spent way too long trying to shave off a second or two.

The Bag-Headed Spider-Man Cameo

Among the sea of Spider-People wandering around headquarters is one wearing a paper bag over his head with a Fantastic Four costume underneath. That's a direct pull from an old comic run where Peter lost his suit and had to improvise, earning him the nickname Bombastic Bag-Man. Blink and you'll miss him, but it's exactly the kind of deep-cut reference the movie is stuffed with.

Innkeeper Bates and His Motel

Tucked away at the Sepulcher in Silverpine Forest is a Forsaken innkeeper who goes by the name Bates. Given that the surrounding zone is dripping with gothic horror atmosphere already, it's hard to believe the Norman Bates nod running the local lodging is a coincidence.

Miguel's Backhanded Compliment to Lego Peter

Somewhere in the Spider-Society crowd is a Lego minifigure version of Spider-Man, and Miguel actually pauses to tell him he's one of the best, brick pun very much intended. It's a throwaway gag, but the animators clearly had fun giving the Lego universe its own little moment in the spotlight.

The Loot Cave's Haunted Message

After the loot cave was patched, Bungie left behind a pile of charred Hive Thrall corpses at the site. Interacting with the remains triggers a distorted voice line about a million deaths not being enough for Master Rahool, a cheeky nod to how many enemies were farmed there for Cryptarch decoding.

It Killed Off the WWII Shooter for a While

Before 2007, 'generic shooter setting' basically meant World War II. Call of Duty 4 flipped that overnight, and the shift was so complete that even other long-running WWII franchises started scrambling to set their games in the modern day instead.

Walton Goggins Isn't New to Superhero Movies

Before he took on the role of Cecil Stedman, Walton Goggins had already dipped a toe into the genre playing Sonny Burch in Ant-Man and the Wasp. His casting as the calculating head of the Global Defense Agency in Invincible fits a pattern where a lot of the show's cast had prior comic book adaptation experience before joining.

The Faces Behind Mocam

Ubisoft rolled out a new facial animation process for Revelations called Mocam, blending traditional keyframe animation with performance capture. Game Informer likened it to what L.A. Noire was doing, though the side effect was that returning faces like Ezio, Altaïr and especially Desmond looked noticeably different from how players remembered them.
