Gilligan Fought for "Baby Blue" as the Finale Song

Vince Gilligan personally insisted on using Badfinger's 'Baby Blue' over the closing shot, even though his own music team pushed back on it. Turned out to be the right call — the song reportedly sold over 5,000 copies on iTunes the night the finale aired.

Jackson's Own Spider Phobia Built Shelob

Peter Jackson is genuinely terrified of spiders, and he leaned right into it when designing Shelob. Every detail people find most unsettling about her, the fangs, the size, the way she moves, comes from what actually scares him.

The Day the Game Got Rebuilt From Scratch

RuneScape 2 dropped on the 29th of March 2004, and it wasn't just a patch — it was a total engine rebuild. The original game got quietly rebranded as 'RuneScape Classic' once the new version took over, and Classic actually stuck around as a legacy option for years after.

A Different Studio Built the Multiplayer

The multiplayer side of Brotherhood wasn't handled by the same team that built Ezio's Rome. That fell to Ubisoft Annecy, the studio previously responsible for the multiplayer in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and lead designer Arnaud Mametz has talked about the headache of translating a stealth game built for one player into something that worked for a crowd.

Vi's Voice Actor Also Voices Gwen Stacy

Hailee Steinfeld, who plays the hard-hitting Vi, also lends her voice to Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse animated films, on top of her live-action roles as Kate Bishop in Hawkeye and Charlie Watson in Bumblebee. Vi and Gwen Stacy came out in overlapping years, so plenty of fans clocked the voice before checking the credits.

Green Goblin Grew 22 Feet Tall

Forget the guy in a purple suit and glider from other adaptations. This Green Goblin takes his cue from the more monstrous version found in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, ending up as a hulking, scaly, 22-foot-tall creature with a purple tongue rather than anything resembling a costume.

Kratos Never Really Left Sparta

No matter which armour set you put on Kratos throughout the game, if you look under the waistcloth you'll spot red leather straps peeking out. It's the same Spartan gear from his Greek days, just quietly worn underneath everything.

A Crowd of Cameos at Roger's Execution

The opening execution scene in Loguetown is stacked with blink-and-you'll-miss-them appearances. Younger versions of Mihawk, Shanks, Buggy, Smoker and even Monkey D. Dragon are all tucked into the crowd if you know where to look.

The Creative Director Left Mid-Development

Patrice Désilets, the creative director who'd shaped the series from the start, departed before Brotherhood was even shown off at E3 2010. Ubisoft's line at the time was that he'd simply taken a creative break once his part of the job was finished.

Nuck Chorris Wrote a Book

In one of the Bohan safehouses there's a paperback lying around called 'Madness and Blasphemy: The Do's and Don'ts.' Doesn't look like much until you shoot it and get a close-up of the cover, where the author is credited as 'Nuck Chorris' - a not-so-subtle wink at a certain roundhouse-kicking action star.
