Tenzin Is Named After a Real Everest Legend

Tenzin's name is a direct tip of the hat to Tenzing Norgay, the real Tibetan Sherpa who climbed Everest alongside Edmund Hillary and became one of the first two people ever confirmed to reach the summit.

The South Park Slow Burn

In one episode Rick and Morty get interrupted mid-Minecraft session, and when Morty complains, Rick just shrugs that South Park already did this joke four years earlier. Morty replies that they're fast, and Rick corrects him that actually they're just slow, a cheeky nod to the fact South Park writes and airs episodes within the same week while Rick and Morty doesn't release anything until a whole season is finished.

Tyrion's Trial Speech Almost Left Out Jaime

Tyrion's furious speech from his jail cell in season four is one of the show's most memorable moments, but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has said it wasn't originally written to be delivered to Jaime. He pushed for the idea that Tyrion should be speaking directly to his brother, and the writers agreed to rework it that way.

Seven Years In The Making

Fallout 4's first piece of concept art was made in 2009, about a week after Fallout 3's final DLC wrapped up, meaning the game had already been quietly cooking for roughly seven years by the time it launched in 2015. Lead artist Istvan Pely stuck with the Fallout concept work rather than moving onto Skyrim with the rest of the team.

The Fat Man's Cut RC Plane

Early in development, the mini-nuke launcher known as the Fat Man was designed to carry its warhead on a remote-controlled model B-17 bomber rather than firing it as a simple projectile, a concept that never made it to the final game.

Master Chief Busking in Vinewood

Wander through Vinewood's 'Chinatown' district and you can find street performers dressed as identical copies of Halo's Master Chief, posing for tips just like the costumed performers found on real Hollywood Boulevard.

Evil Morty's Theme Song

That eyepatch-wearing Morty who shows up briefly back in season one turns out to be the mastermind running the entire Citadel of Ricks election storyline in The Ricklantis Mixup. The second the show confirms he's Evil Morty, For the Damaged Coda by Blonde Redhead kicks in, and the band's music has basically become his unofficial theme ever since.

Ezio's Real Family Feud: The Sforza Assassination

Although he never appears on screen, the real-life assassination of Galeazzo Maria Sforza, Duke of Milan, is referenced in letters Giovanni Auditore writes to Lorenzo de' Medici, framing it as the opening spark of the game's Templar conspiracy in 1476.

Gollum's Eyes Give Him Away

There's a subtle detail in Gollum's design: his pupils actually change shape depending on which personality is talking. Smeagol gets wide, innocent-looking eyes, while Gollum's pupils shrink down to something meaner.

Morgana and Kayle Are Actually Sisters

The Fallen and the Righteous aren't just thematic opposites, they're siblings. Morgana refused to join Kayle's crusade against evil, and that single disagreement fractured their relationship for good, eventually turning them into two of the most opposed forces in Runeterra's story.
