Steven Knight wrote Peaky Blinders not long after directing Jason Statham in the film Redemption, and reportedly wanted him for the show. Statham's schedule wouldn't allow it, which might have been for the best given how central a convincing Brummie accent is to the whole thing.

In episode 6 of Season 1, the drunk jock that D.A. Sinclair kidnaps is voiced by Justin Roiland, the co-creator and voice of Rick Sanchez himself. It's an easy one to miss since the character barely appears, but the voice is unmistakable once you know to listen for it.
The Strange Relic is a Jak and Daxter Callback
Tucked away near the start of the Fortress chapter is the Strange Relic, an egg-shaped treasure covered in odd symbols. Translate the markings and they actually spell out 'Naughty Dog' and 'Madman', and the whole thing is really a sly nod to the Precursor Orbs from the studio's earlier Jak and Daxter games.
There's a Character Hiding in Nuketown Zombies' Backyard Shelter
In the Black Ops II zombies version of Nuketown, if you walk up to the fallout shelter door in the yellow house's backyard and knife the door, you'll hear Marlton Johnson, a character from the TranZit storyline, muttering complaints from inside about the dust and radiation. He's not doing anything else on the map, he's just stuck in there, reusing lines from a completely different level.
