The Bending Styles Are Real Kung Fu

None of the fighting in the show was made up from scratch. Waterbending is built on Tai Chi Chuan, earthbending on Hung Gar, firebending on Northern Shaolin, and airbending on Baguazhang, with Toph getting her own flavor pulled from Southern Praying Mantis. The show's animators actually studied footage of these styles to get the movement right.

The High Ground Meme Made It Into Kvatch

Push through Breaking the Siege of Kvatch into the Oblivion World and you'll find a burnt body near a pool of lava, positioned in a way that's an unmistakable riff on Anakin's fate in Revenge of the Sith after Obi-Wan famously 'had the high ground.' It's been in the game a while, and Bethesda has openly admitted it was intentional.

Bigfoot on the City Seal

Look closely at the official seal of the City of Los Santos, which appears on the side of every LSPD patrol vehicle, and you'll spot a small illustration of Bigfoot tucked into the bottom right corner, a quiet nod to the series' long-running cryptid mythology.

Cap's Shield on the Workbench

In the scene where Pepper walks in on Tony stripping off the damaged armor, Captain America's shield is sitting right there on his workbench. It showed up in several early trailers too, but Marvel quietly cut it out of the marketing before release.

An Unexpectedly Starry Cast

Plenty of the Delta and SAS soldiers running around MW3's campaign barely get a close-up, but the actors behind them are surprisingly big names. William Fichtner, Idris Elba, Timothy Olyphant, Bruce Greenwood and Barry Pepper all lent their voices to characters who, in most cases, never even get a proper cutscene.

Aunt May's Oscar Pedigree

Lily Tomlin voicing Aunt May keeps a weirdly specific streak going. Rosemary Harris, Sally Field and Marisa Tomei all played May in live action and all picked up Oscar nominations at some point in their careers, and Tomlin herself was nominated for Nashville decades earlier. The writers apparently had her in mind the whole time they were writing this tougher, more no-nonsense version of the character.

A Giant Skeleton on Mount Shann

Rockstar can never resist a Sasquatch nod, and RDR2 hides one on Mount Shann, north of Strawberry. Climb high enough and you'll find an enormous skeleton lodged in the rock. The game never says what it is outright, but most players are fairly certain it's meant to be Bigfoot.

It Started As a Prince of Persia Spin-Off

Before it became its own thing, Assassin's Creed was pitched internally as 'Prince of Persia: Assassin', meant to be a spin-off of Sands of Time. The story drifted so far from the Prince that Ubisoft eventually cut it loose to stand on its own two feet.

Toni Cipriani's Radio Career Follows Her

DJ Toni on Flash FM is the same Toni Cipriani who ran Flashback FM back in GTA III, just younger and considerably more naive this time round given Vice City's earlier timeline. A chunk of her on-air material even reuses jokes from her GTA III stint, including the bit about her having been on fire, which is a nice bit of continuity for anyone who remembers the earlier game.

Atreus's Actor Did His Own Motion Capture Too

Sunny Suljic wasn't just lending his voice to Atreus, he performed full motion capture for the character as well, working directly opposite Christopher Judge on set rather than recording his lines separately.
