Evans was never a fan of his Captain America costume in this one, particularly the helmet, since it had no chin strap and kept sliding around his head between takes. It became enough of a running joke that later MCU movies actually poke fun at the costume whenever the events of this film get brought up.
Up in Senior Scribe Neriah's lab on the Prydwen, there's a tray of experimental plants described as growing near rivers. Sound familiar? It's basically Fallout's version of Skyrim's nirnroot, minus the annoying chime. Thankfully you can harvest it without hunting down that sound for twenty minutes.
Down in the corner of your HUD, next to the minimap, the game names whatever bit of the map you're standing on. Most of these are useful callouts, but a few multiplayer maps hide joke locations tucked into odd corners, like a ledge on Boardwalk nicknamed 'Makeout Point.' Camp in one long enough and you'll pop the Confused Callouts achievement.
Every other mainline Halo game hands you a Spartan, but ODST is the one time the series lets you play as a regular, mortal soldier instead. The Rookie never says a word the entire game, and he's the character you both start and end the story with, wandering the streets between everyone else's flashbacks.
Wander into Silvermoon City and you might bump into Kraes of Immersang, a troll NPC billed as a self-proclaimed prince. His flavour text piles on every over-the-top backstory cliché roleplay servers are famous for, right down to a throwaway line about fighting a personal war against a random player named Joshua Fuesting. It's Blizzard gently poking fun at its own community.
Stick around for the credits and you'll hear the Gusty Garden Galaxy theme from Super Mario Galaxy playing over the top, widely considered one of the best pieces of music Nintendo has ever put in a Mario game, so it's a genuinely lovely way to send the audience off.
Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega and retired Marine lieutenant colonel Oliver North, of Iran-Contra fame, both appear in Black Ops II's campaign, with North voicing his own character. It's a strange bit of casting even by Call of Duty's usual standards, mixing real-world figures with controversial pasts directly into the fiction.
Hulk's iconic put down of Loki wasn't invented for the film. In the comics the Hulk's usual go-to insult is 'puny humans', so swapping it to 'puny god' for a literal god was a small tweak that turned into one of the most quoted lines in the entire MCU.
There's an enormous amount of unscripted-sounding chatter buried in the game — north of 8,000 individual lines of dialogue that fire off randomly during firefights, which is a big part of why the marines and grunts feel so alive in combat.
