Composer C418 apparently caught his own cat's startled meow on a recording session, and rather than replace it, that panicked yowl got worked straight into the Ghast's audio and has stayed there ever since.
Strip the 'Earl of' off Jakben, Earl of Imbel's name and you get JakbenImbel, which reads a lot like 'Jack be nimble' if you squint. Fittingly, he's connected to Springheel Jak - a play on the English folklore figure Spring-Heeled Jack - whose boots give you a hefty Acrobatics boost, perfect for jumping over candlesticks.
In 'The Tales of Ba Sing Se,' Iroh spends the whole episode quietly helping strangers before we find out why: it's his son Lu Ten's birthday, and Lu Ten died taking the city years earlier. Iroh sings 'Leaves From the Vine' through tears, and the segment closes on a dedication to Mako, who died just before the episode aired. It's considered by a lot of fans to be the saddest moment in the whole show.
