Zanzil the Outcast's Exile

Zanzil is a minor villain in Cape of Stranglethorn, later a raid boss in Zul'Gurub, and most players never learn why he's an outcast. Pay attention to the quest dialogue and you find he was banished from a troll tribe over necromancy, a foul potion and dealings with the god Hakkar, apparently in a rather violent way.

The Cockroach Vendor's Tragic Past

Jeremiah Payson, the Undercity vendor known to most players as the cockroach seller, has a sad backstory that's easy to miss. His real surname is Felstone, and you can find the ghost of his sister in Felstone Field in the Western Plaguelands, where a quest reveals what the plague took from him.

The Secret Finders Behind Mind-Seeker

Since Legion, WoW has hidden secrets with no quests, no markers and no hints, solved almost entirely by a community group called the WoW Secret Finding Discord. Thirty-four of them count towards the Mind-Seeker achievement, and working them out takes puzzles, deduction and a lot of teamwork.

Invisible NPCs You Need a Ghost Detector to See

Warcraft Wiki lists about 90 NPCs that are normally invisible, from the ghostly citizens of Caer Darrow to a whole family of 'Cheerful' spirits for every playable race. You only see them with something like Detect Invisibility or the Extra-Dimensional Ghost Revealer, and plenty could count as easter eggs.

18,058 Boars to Level 60

YouTuber Classic Winds worked out that in Vanilla WoW you could theoretically reach level 60 by killing nothing but boars, at 18,058 of them. There's a catch: there aren't enough boars in any single zone to do it, so you'd have to boar-hop the whole world.
