Having just made it back to the streets of Liberty City after a long stretch inside, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City by his old boss, Sonny Forelli. But all doesn't go smoothly apon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. Tommy is set up, and loses everything. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back, and take over Vice City himself.

The PlayStation-Only Years

When Sony struck its deal with Take-Two back in 2002, it wasn't just for GTA III, it locked in GTA III, Vice City and the then-unannounced San Andreas as PlayStation 2 console exclusives through October 2004. Xbox and PC owners eventually got their turn, but for a good while Vice City was strictly a PS2 thing, and the gamble clearly paid off for Sony.

The Garbage Missions That Got Postponed

Files found on the original PS2 disc reference Trashmaster missions, basically trash-collecting jobs where you'd haul garbage containers to a junkyard. They never made it into the finished game and instead resurfaced years later in Liberty City Stories, suggesting the idea was simply shelved rather than scrapped outright.

San Andreas launched just two years after Vice City, yet it packed in a map several times bigger, around 100 story missions, and a mountain of side content. For a Rockstar team working on that timeline, it's honestly kind of wild.

The Actual Easter Egg

Rockstar's sense of humour is very literal sometimes. Down near the VCN building in Downtown there's a window you can jump through, and inside is a proper brown chocolate easter egg, sat on its own little pedestal like it's the most important artefact in the game. It does nothing. It's just there because the joke was too good to pass up.
