Xur Almost Missed Its Big Debut

The legendary exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn was sold by Xur only three times across the game's entire history, twice in Destiny 1's first year. Many players missed or ignored the very first sale simply because they didn't yet realise how good it was or didn't have enough Strange Coins.

The Original Loot Cave

Shortly after launch in 2014, players discovered a cave in the Skywatch area of the Cosmodrome where low-level enemies respawned almost instantly. Guardians lined up to farm it for easy Engrams and XP, turning it into one of the most infamous grinding spots in gaming history before Bungie patched it out.

Peter Dinklage's 'Dinklebot'

Ghost was originally voiced by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, whose flat, monotone delivery became so widely mocked that fans nicknamed the character 'Dinklebot.' The nickname spread quickly online even during the alpha test, before the full game had released.

Destiny's First Easter Egg Predates the Game

Years before Destiny released, an advertising billboard reading 'Destiny Awaits' appeared in Bungie's Halo 3: ODST, complete with an image of Earth and what looks like the Traveler hovering above it, an early, subtle tease of the studio's next project.
