Flip a Mob Upside Down

Grab a name tag, scribble 'Dinnerbone' or 'Grumm' onto it, and slap it on almost any mob in the game, and it'll flop upside down for the rest of its life. It's a tribute to Mojang's technical director Nathan 'Dinnerbone' Adams, whose own online avatar has always been rendered flipped, and the joke stuck so well it's become a permanent feature rather than a bug.

Hollywood's Cargo Is a HAL 9000 Pun

The 'cargo' on Hollywood isn't cargo at all — it's an Omnic named HAL-Fred Glitchbot who's being escorted through the studio lot while an anti-Omnic group tries to take him out. The name's a little wink at classic sci-fi that's easy to miss if you're too busy fighting over the payload.

The Adamantium Skeleton Perk

The Adamantium Skeleton perk borrows its name straight from Marvel's X-Men, referencing the fictional indestructible metal alloy bonded to Wolverine's bones.

Special Permission for Edoras

The sweeping shots of Edoras were filmed on protected land inside a New Zealand national park, which meant Jackson's team had to get sign-off from the country's Conservation Society before they could touch the location.

Houdini Software Built the Flood Effects

Naughty Dog's engine could only handle 580 joints per mesh, which was a problem when they needed a big, realistic-looking flood surface for one of the game's set pieces. The VFX team turned to Houdini to fracture the water simulation into smaller pieces that could actually run in-game, then stitched it all back together so it still looked like one continuous surface.

It Took Six Years to Get Arcane to Screen

Co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee have said the whole project took around six years from start to finish, meaning work on it stretches back to roughly 2015. A lot of the cast weren't nearly as famous back then as they are now, which makes the eventual voice lineup feel like a bit of a lucky break in hindsight.

Stormwind and Orgrimwar's Guards Went Full Jedi for a Day

On the release day of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, city guards in Stormwind and Orgrimmar quietly swapped their usual weapons for glowing blades that looked suspiciously like lightsabers, blue for the Alliance and red for the Horde. It only lasted the one day, so if you weren't logged in you'd have completely missed it.

Summoning a Hidden Dragon in Blackreach

A dragon named Vulthuryol can be found sealed within the underground region of Blackreach. Players can summon it by using the Unrelenting Force shout on a glowing orb near the Debate Hall, triggering a rare underground dragon fight most players never intentionally seek out.

Odin's Chamber Hints At Other Mythologies

Inside Odin's Hidden Chamber, Mimir points out symbols that don't belong to Norse tradition at all, he specifically flags ones linked to Egyptian, Celtic, and Japanese culture. It's a small line, but it quietly suggests this universe has a lot more pantheons than just Greek and Norse.

On-Screen Smoking Sparked a Real Netflix Policy Change

Season 3's frequent shots of Joyce and Hopper lighting up cigarettes landed the show on a list of the worst offenders for on-screen tobacco use, according to a Truth Initiative survey. Netflix responded publicly, promising that future projects rated TV-14 or below would go smoke and vape free unless historical accuracy genuinely called for it.
