Desmond's Face Belonged to a Bartender

The model scouted to be the visual basis for Desmond Miles was Francisco Randez, found through an agency search for someone with Mediterranean features. By total coincidence, Randez actually worked as a bartender, exactly like Desmond does before his life gets turned upside down.

Once the Biggest Game Wiki on the Internet

At its peak, WoWWiki grew to more than 99,800 pages, making it the largest community-run wiki dedicated to any single video game on the internet. That's an enormous amount of collective note-taking from a fanbase that clearly wasn't satisfied with just playing the thing.

The Final Boss Was Built to Fit the Island, Not the Other Way Around

In an old EGM interview, co-president Evan Wells admitted the ending boss fight was shaped by the confines of the island they'd already built, and that a bit more time might have let them do something flashier. Amy Hennig chimed in too, noting games often struggle with escalating to a climax the way movies don't have to.

Motion-Capture Horses for Safer Stunts

With over 200 horses used across the trilogy and huge battle scenes to shoot, the team put both horses and riders in motion capture suits and filmed their gallops and rears safely in a studio before digitally dropping them into the fighting.

Robert Downey Jr.'s Snack Stash

Downey Jr apparently kept snacks hidden all over the lab set so he'd never go hungry between takes. In one scene where he offers Chris Evans some blueberries, that wasn't scripted at all, it was just Downey munching on his stash and deciding to share, and Whedon liked the moment enough to leave it in the final cut.

A Month for Four Seconds of Footage

The comic-book look wasn't just a filter slapped over the CG. Every rendered frame got a hand-drawn pass from an artist afterward, and the directors wouldn't allow any panels, sound-effect lettering or word balloons on screen until after Miles gets bitten. On a normal animated film a team can knock out four seconds of footage in a week. Here it took roughly a month.

White Bird Drops an Internet Meme

During Honest Hearts, the tribal character White Bird can randomly blurt out the line 'take drugs, kill a bear,' which sounds completely out of place coming from him. It's actually a nod to an old advice animal meme format that was floating around online at the time, and the contrast between his character and the line is exactly what makes it land.

Over Ten Times More NPC Animation Than GTA V

Rockstar has reportedly built more than 600,000 individual NPC animations for GTA VI, compared to roughly 55,000 in GTA V. That jump is a big part of why pedestrians and crowds in the recent footage look so much less repetitive and robotic than in past games.

It Was Almost a Live-Action Film

Before it was ever an animated show, Invincible was being developed as a live-action movie back in 2017 through Universal Pictures. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, both massive fans of the comic, were attached as producers, and their company Point Grey Pictures is still part of the production credits on the show today.

Sofia Was Painted Before She Was Written

Ezio's love interest Sofia Sartor wasn't dreamed up from scratch, art director Raphael Lacoste insisted her look come straight from Albrecht Dürer's 1505 portrait 'Portrait of a Young Venetian Woman.' It's a nice bit of circularity, because that very painting shows up as an item you have to retrieve for her during the 'Portrait of a Lady' memory.
