Teenager Miles Morales struggles to adjust to life in a new school while discovering his own unique Spider-Man abilities. When a mysterious collider opens portals to alternate dimensions, he encounters multiple versions of Spider-Man from other universes, each with their own style and experience. Together, they must work to stop a threat that could destroy all their realities. The bubbly, anime-inspired take on Peni Parker that this movie made popular is actually a pretty big departure from her original comic version, who was written as much more solemn and serious. This film's cheerier, more genki-girl interpretation ended up sticking so hard that it shaped how she's been written ever since, showing up again in the sequel and later in games like Marvel Rivals.
When Invincible crossed into other comic universes during the Angstrom Levy arc, director Dan Duncan pushed to cast Josh Keaton as the Spider-Man stand-in, since Keaton had voiced Spidey in The Spectacular Spider-Man and later Across the Spider-Verse. Getting the design past Amazon's lawyers took some back and forth, apparently mostly arguments over what colour the costume was allowed to be.
