A Speedboat That Got Left Behind

Concept art and some leaked demo footage show off a vehicle nicknamed the 'Warthog of the Seas,' basically a Warthog reimagined as a speedboat with a turret bolted on. It never shipped, but it's a fun glimpse at how much got tried and thrown out before the game went gold.

Noble Team Almost Had a Seventh Member

Sara Sorvad, the orphaned civilian you meet in the opening level, was originally meant to stick around and travel with Noble Team as a science advisor for the rest of the campaign. That thread got dropped early, and she never appears again after Winter Contingency in the final game.

A Nightclub Built From Old Bones

Club Errera in New Alexandria isn't a brand new layout, it's actually built on top of the Tayari Plaza map from Halo 3, just redressed and repurposed. Reusing the geometry saved the team time while still giving the level a totally different mood.

Achievements That Add Up to Seven

Reach originally shipped with 49 achievements, and that number wasn't picked at random. Bungie has a long-running soft spot for the number seven across their games, and 7 times 7 landing on 49 achievements was very much on purpose rather than a coincidence.

They're Standing in the Order They Die

There's a well-known promotional shot of Noble Team lined up together, and once you've finished the campaign it's hard to unsee it: the order they're standing in from left to right matches the order each of them dies over the course of the story. Nobody's confirmed it was deliberate, but it's a grim little detail once you notice it.

Halsey's Journal Planted the First Clue

Long before it was ever spelled out in later books and games, Dr. Halsey's personal journal entries were the first real hint that fans picked up on suggesting she was Miranda Keyes' mother. It stayed as fan theory territory for a while before eventually being confirmed properly.

Two Actors, One Spartan

Noble Six doesn't have a single fixed voice. Pick the male version at the start of the game and you get Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, pick the female version and it's Amanda Philipson instead, both fully recorded so the choice actually changes every line of dialogue you hear.

The Man Behind Jorge

Jorge-052, the big, gentle heavy weapons guy of Noble Team, was voiced by Hakeem Kae-Kazim. He went on to reprise the role for Jorge's later appearances outside Reach too, so it's the same voice carrying the character across more than one game.
