A Very Small Website

Sit down at one of the in-game internet cafe computers and type www.littlelacysurprisepageant.com into the browser and you'll pull up a joke website that's every bit as tasteless as you'd expect from the GTA writers. Fair warning if you're trying to keep your wanted level clean afterward, though - leaving the computer can rack you up a five-star response from the cops for reasons that are never really explained.

When the Music Died (Legally)

A lot of players who go back to GTA IV today notice the radio isn't quite what it used to be, and there's a boring but real reason for that. Rockstar's original music licensing deals only ran for about ten years, and once they expired in 2018 a big chunk of the soundtrack had to be pulled. Vladivostok FM got hit hardest, needing a near-total replacement of its entire song list.

Liberty City Almost Wasn't New York (Again)

Early plans for GTA IV apparently included areas modelled on upstate New York and Long Island, on top of the core city. Those regions got cut somewhere along the way, and the game shipped with the more compact, densely packed version of Liberty City everyone actually knows.

Juliette Lewis Turned Down San Andreas, Then Showed Up Anyway

Juliette Lewis was originally lined up to voice Sage, a DJ on Radio X back in San Andreas, but she passed on it because she felt the character's dialogue was too crude even for GTA. She still ended up in the series eventually, though - in GTA IV she appears as herself, hosting on Radio Broker rather than playing a fictional character.

The Wilhelm Scream Sneaks In

GTA IV quietly includes the Wilhelm Scream, that famous stock sound effect that's been dubbed into everything from Star Wars to Toy Story whenever someone falls or gets thrown. It's used sparingly enough that most players will have heard it dozens of times in the game without ever clocking what it actually is.

Brucie's Tattoos Say the Opposite of What He Thinks

Watch Brucie work out during one of his cutscenes and you can spot Chinese character tattoos covering his torso. On his chest is the character for 'I,' but the ones on his back translate to 'transsexual.' Given how much time Brucie spends bragging about his own masculinity, it's hard to believe this one was an accident.
